TIDDAS Program Coordinator

About the Role;

This is a full time (1.0 EFT) position until 30th June 2018, with the possibility of extended funding. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Flexible work arrangements can be facilitated where it can be demonstrated all work requirements can be fulfilled.


Salary is range $57,620 to $62,342 based on experience and qualifications plus superannuation. Salary packaging applies to this position.


Key Tasks;
  • Ensure that services delivered are effective, efficient, and client focused, and consistent with the organisations strategic objectives
  • To engage at-risk and disconnected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and link them into local services
  • To promote healthy lifestyles and positive life choices
  • To encourage community engagement and participation
  • To work towards the reduction of the extent and incidence of antisocial and criminal behaviours
  • To encourage and support young people to link into employment and education
  • To undertake a variety of administrative tasks including case notes, client monitoring forms, SYARD data base records and other tasks as directed by the Aboriginal Services Manager
  • To assist with the maintenance of your office space
To be successful in this role you will need to be a motivated self-starter, innovative, able to relate to and engage at risk young people. Experience in a similar role or any in coordinating and developing programs would be highly regarded. You will also be required to undergo a criminal record check and hold a current Working with Children’s Check.

Community Integration Leader

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young people at risk in the North-West Metropolitan Region?

Have you worked with young people in residential care and have a knowledge of the Victorian Child Protection System?

Do you have a passion and understanding of working with Volunteers in our community?

The Community Integration Program (CIP) is an exciting program auspiced by the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) and runs in close collaboration with Whitelion and three community service organisations which manage out of home care services.

Whitelion is seeking an experienced, qualified and motivated person to lead the ongoing development of the Community Integration Program in the North-West region, based in Footscray. This role would suit an innovative and motivated person with experience in volunteer coordination, an understanding of Victoria's Child Protection system, and a demonstrated commitment to working with young people experiencing disadvantage.

To be successful in this role you will be required to:

  • Engage and build relationships with young people within the Out of Home Care environment
  • Co-ordinate volunteer recruitment, training, screening and ongoing support
  • Generate and maintain strong local support among key stakeholders and the community for the program
  • Co-ordinate the linking of young people with suitable volunteer and provide ongoing support for them within a community activity
  • Manage program administrative tasks
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to work autonomously
  • Undergo a criminal record check
  • Have a valid Working with Children’s Check

Employment Worker

Whitelion Employment Program

Full time (1.0 EFT) Geelong.

Whitelion is a non-profit community organisation working with young people who are at risk and disconnected from the community due to abuse and neglect, drug addiction and poverty. Whitelion opens doors to opportunities, relationships and community for these young people. It gives them the chance to ‘break the cycle’ through leadership, mentoring, employment, housing support and indigenous programs, outreach services, and prevention programs run in rural and metropolitan schools in disadvantaged communities. We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Employment Worker to join our Employment team, based in Geelong with an outreach requirement.

Some of the key tasks include:

  • Engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in vocational and employment activities, inclusive of resume development, interview preparation and industry education
  • To coach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the development of independent job seeking skills
  • Supporting the matching of young people with employers and educational service providers, suited to their skill levels and aspirations

To be successful in this role you will require a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Social Science or related area and/or demonstrated relevant employment experience. You will also be required to undergo a criminal record check and hold a current Working with Children’s Check.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Salary range is $51,316.72-$57,106.40 depending on qualification and/or experience plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5 %.

Western Leaving Care Mentoring Co-ordinator
Full Time (1.0 EFT)
Whitelion is a non-profit community organisation that supports and empowers young people to reach their potential. Our mentoring program works to recruit, screen and train adult volunteers as mentors to disadvantaged young people needing a stable, consistent role model in their life.
We are seeking an experienced, committed and highly motivated Person to work within our Mentoring Program and young people to assist them in engaging with their community. Applicants will need to have a strong understanding of the child protection and out of home care system in Victoria.
To be successful in this role you will be required to:
