Camp Inspires Youth Leaders - Mar 17, 2012

Each year the Young Lions program holds a leadership camp for youth at risk. This year's camp commenced with great anticipation on Friday 16th March at Cottage by the Sea in Queenscliff and was attended by both young people, Whitelion staff and our ever reliable volunteer Vic. The aim was to allow the group of young people to bond together and determine if they have what it takes to become a Young Lion.

The weekend provided for some fantastic weather which allowed for a great morning of surfing and a leisured afternoon to take on the challenge of the wooden maze and mini golf in Wallington. Throughout their time at camp the Young Lions successfully completed several modules including Values, Problem solving, Goal setting, Team work and Self-care.

Seven young people are now ready to take on the challenge of becoming this year's Young Lions. This group left camp on Sunday, with the view to continue to challenge themselves throughout the year in a safe environment. Overall the camp was an astounding success with the Young Lions developing goals to achieve on their time in the program and we look forward to sharing more stories as they continue on their leadership journey throughout 2012.
