Young Womens Support Services

The Young Women’s Support Service (YWSS) at Whitelion is a responsive and creative service for young women who have been involved with the Child Protection and/or Youth Justice Systems.

YWSS uses a strengths based model to empower young women to make positive decisions about their lives by addressing issues of isolation, disconnection, lack of positive peer relationships and institutionalisation.

The YWSS aims to give young women at risk, (both those in the community and those in Youth Justice settings) an opportunity to engage in positive activities based on ideals of personal and social growth; form meaningful relationships with peers and engage within the broader community.

Whitelion's YWSS is offering an opportunity for young women to be part of The Body Positive+ Project.

Whitelion has a history of facilitating successful peer education projects where young people deliver educational programs to other young people in schools, in custody and in community services. This summer, Whitelion young women will be running the Body Positive+ Project to address issues around positive body image. The young women will research and discuss the issues themselves before designing and delivering a resource for other young people. This project will be owned and managed by Whitelion young women and will provide a valuable educational resource for others in the community.
