About Wyndham

The Wyndham municipality encompasses the suburbs of Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook, Laverton and Altona North.  The latest Estimated Residential Population (ERP) for 2013/14  was 199,715 people,  indicating a 5.6% annual growth rate (source: Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2013-14, cat. no. 3218.0). Wyndham has experienced the largest and fastest growth of all local government areas. Its forecasted population is set to exceed 384,000 by 2036 (source: http://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/aboutwyndham/wyndhamcity/demographicsandpopulation/demographics)

With such tremendous growth in the region, our service has seen increasing rates of unemployment, evictions, homelessness, family violence, and difficulties accessing services for young people. Homelessness alone is estimated to have almost quadrupled between 2001 and 2012 in Wyndham (source: https://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/aboutwyndham/pubmedia/media/2015/march/shelter_from_the_housing_storm)
