Eve's Story

Eve's Story
Oct 01, 2018
Eve* was a young woman in need when she was referred to Whitelion at the age of 18. Eve presented with mental health concerns, a significant trauma history, unstable housing and was unemployed and not engaged in education.

Whitelion provided intensive case management support through the Wyndham Outreach Program. The Whitelion worker provided collaborative support around mental health, working closely with fellow community organisation, Headspace. The worker further worked with Eve to provide positive role modelled behaviours which assisted with Eve’s transition into tertiary education. This transition alone was a huge step forward for Eve, having been not engaged with education for some time.

In addition to re-engaging in education, Eve’s worker supported her to create a resume and apply for positions. To assist with Eve’s employability, Whitelion worked with Eve to participate in community run skills training courses. Eve was also referred to the Wyndham Resilience Adventure Program (WRAP) where she participated in group activities including volunteering.

Eve and her Whitelion worker also focused on accommodation – developing strategies around Eve’s current accommodation, as well as exploring alternative accommodation options. Eve’s worker was able to provide her with a truly holistic service – working with Eve both individually, as well as supporting referrals to other specialist organisations as required.

Eve is currently engaged in full-time tertiary education and is achieving high marks! She is also engaging in positive peer relationships, and continues to apply for employment opportunities. Eve is managing her housing situation and is looking to move into a private rental.

Upon her exit from the program Eve reported that “My experience was definitely a positive one that helped me realise my options and helped guide me in achieving certain goals.”
