Volunteer - Adelaide Chatterbox Street Outreach Program

About the Program

This program will use a modified bus as a mobile support base and will be staffed by an outreach worker from Whitelion and a team of volunteers. The bus is stocked with food, clothing, health supplies and other crisis supports.

The program will operate 2 afternoons per week from 2:00pm until 8:00pm (or later as required). The program purpose is to offer young people a friendly non-judgmental person to talk to and an outreach worker who can link them in with necessary services. Whitelion appreciates its volunteers and acknowledges that volunteers really do hold that magic touch to engage with people. As a volunteer with Whitelion you will be provided with great support and training to volunteer within this program.

Role Requirments

  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Effectively engage and relate comfortably to people from a wide spectrum of the community in a non-judgmental way.
  • Willingness to undergo training and engage in regular supervision
  • Able to work Thursday or Friday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm

You will also be required to undergo a DCSI child related employment screening for volunteers and participate in training sessions (multiple training sessions will be held for volunteers).
