BREAKING THE CYCLE

Whitelion supports young people to build better lives for themselves and helps make our community a more inclusive and safer place.

Each year thousands of young people are disconnected from our community due to abuse and neglect, drug addiction and poverty. These young people have often had horrific life experiences with few positive role models and are caught in a 'cycle of discouragement' that is very hard to break. Many of these young people end up in Out-of-Home Care and in some cases in the Youth Justice System.

CEO MESSAGE

When reflecting on what Whitelion has achieved in six short months, it is hard to believe that we are only just halfway through 2010.

I am pleased to announce that Whitelion is becoming a true national organisation, and will commence operation in New South Wales in October this year. Whitelion has received significant funding from the New South Wales Department of Juvenile Justice to bring our specialised Employment Program to Western Sydney. We are very excited about working with the NSW government and Sydney community to deliver a program that will make a real difference to an area of Sydney that has significant youth incarceration rates.

The first half of 2010 is also the time for Whitelion to let its hair down! Thank you to everyone who joined the party at our annual flagship fundraiser, Bail Out. This year sawan extraordinary effort from supporters from across Melbourne, Tasmania and South Australia, who gathered at the Old Melbourne Gaol in May to raise much needed funds for Whitelion programs.

The rest of the year is set to be just as exciting; Whitelion is now bigger than at any time in its ten year history and has the opportunity to deliver quality programs to more young people who need help than ever before.

CEO / Co Founder
