Supporting Our Young People - Wear It Purple Day

This week at Whitelion we will be celebrating Wear It Purple Day.

Wear it Purple Day is an annual LGBTIQA+ awareness day especially for young people, based in Australia. Supporters wear purple to celebrate diversity and young people from the LGBTIQA+ community. This year the theme is “WE ARE THE CHANGE” - it represents us, as a generation, implementing productive and inclusive changes in society.

Whitelion celebrates Wear It Purple Day because 75% of LGBTIQ+ youth in Australia will be bullied because of their identity, and 80% will experience it at school. → Because of this, LGBTIQ+ youth are up to 12x more likely to experience depression and up to 5x more likely to experience anxiety. Whitelion wants to encourage an inclusive world where people can safely live their true identity, and we are proud to support Wear It Purple Day.
